LEMON BREAD

Lemon Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest

  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

Lemon Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2-3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

  4. Add Lemon and Milk: Stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. Prepare Glaze: While the bread is baking, prepare the lemon glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.

  7. Glaze the Bread: Once the bread is done baking, let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, remove it from the pan and place it on a wire rack. While the bread is still warm, drizzle the lemon glaze over the top, allowing it to soak into the bread.

  8. Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool completely before slicing. Enjoy!
